51% of the French want to change their mobile subscription, and they are right to want to do so
Last week, the consulting firm Oliver Wyman published a study on the European mobile operator market. A study where we learn that 44% of European consumers want to change mobile operators. And it is in France that the tendency is highestwith 51% of subscribers saying they are ready to take such a step.
And they are right to want to do that. For two reasons. The first is that it is very easy to do and often costs nothing. The second is that it is very easy to find a cheap package.
It is very simple to change your mobile subscription…
There are two ways to cancel your mobile subscription.
The first is the most common, but also the simplest. It’s from change operator while keeping your phone number. A very practical solution. Because we have nothing to do. When you take out your new subscription, all you have to do is communicate your RIO code to your new operator, who will take care of the rest.
And if you are not or are no longer committed to your current operator, it will cost you nothing, apart from the amount of the new SIM card. On the other hand, if you are still engaged, you will have to pay termination fees. Their amount varies depending on the number of months you have left to pay. You will see how to calculate them in this file.
The other solution, much less common, is to switch operators without requesting number portability. Here again, you don’t have much to do: You just have to send a registered letter to your current operator.
…And now is the time or never to do it
If the majority of French people want a mobile subscription, it is first and foremost in favor pay less elsewhere, again according to this study. That’s it have better network performance or even for has a larger amount of gigabytes.
Trust us, now is the time to take the plunge. Because over the past 12 months, according to our price barometers, prices for mobile subscriptions fell by 7.8%.
In France, the competition is actually tougher than ever between different mobile phone operators. And under the management of MVNOs, these operators who use the network of traditional operators, the prices are among the lowest in Europe. Furthermore, the report emphasizes, “low-cost mobile operators should continue to gain market share at the expense of traditional operators: 30% of French consumers who subscribe to traditional operators intend to switch to low-cost providers.”
The vast majority of French people still subscribe to a traditional operator, but many of them want to switch to an MVNO. Because they are the ones who offer cheap packages at less than €10/month with often nice envelopes of gigabytes at stake. They are also the ones offering the cheapest 5G plans on the market today. With virtual operators you can easily find a 5G package for less than €15, or even less than €10 a month.
